    Description

Fox Film Corporation Original U.S. One-Sheet Poster Very Fine Condition Folded
Original Fox Film Corporation One-Sheet Poster for the 1918 re-release of the 1915 film THE TWO ORPHANS. The film starred Theda Bara and Jean Sothern. There were two different one-sheets, at least, created for this release of the film. Theda Bara was one of the first actresses to become a sex symbol and she made than 40 films, most of which have been lost. She famously played Cleopatra, long before Colbert or Taylor ever dreamed of it. Wary of being typecast as a vamp, she made this film against type, in hopes that she could broaden the roles she was offered. But it was not to be. This classic design, so redolent of early Hollywood, shows Bara with her co-star Jean Sothern. Theda Bara was born Theodosia Burr Goodman in 1885 and she died in 1955 at the age of 69. Bara was strictly a silent star, never having appeared in a sound film. MovieArt guarantees that this poster, over 100 years old, is an authentic U.S. one sheet for the 1918 release of this film. MovieArt Austin does not sell reproductions.
